Traditional Navajo Pottery is hand coiled from natural clay. After it has been shaped, designs may or may not be added to the pot. The pot is then covered and fired in a manure fire. Carbon blackened images called "Fire Clouds" are left on the pot. The pot is then polished and covered with a Pinon Tree Pitch to give the pot a sheen and to make it water proof.
Navajo Etched Pottery aka Navajo Etchware Pottery is usually a red or white clay, poured into a mold where it sets and dries. It is then hand Etched and painted, after which it is then fired in a kiln.
Navajo Ornaments are for any decorative or festive occasion. All of our hand crafted Navajo ornaments are made by local artists and will come with a picture of the artist who made them. Our ornament balls are made with sand over a glass ball featuring traditional Navajo designs or are a poured ceramic which is then colored and fired. The folkart ornaments are hand carved and crafted from aspen or cottonwood.
All of our Native American Drums that we have for sale come to us from the Cochiti Pueblo reservation. Every drum is individually hand made using a raw hide cover. The painted drums are all painted by our local Navajo sandpainting artists.
